The Third-Party Branch of QMES Successfully Held Campus Lecture and Patriotic Education Activities

On the morning of June 30, 2023, Huang Quanzhang, the secretary of the Third-Party Branch with integration of teachers and students of QMES; Song Jiayin, the Branch staff Party member; Xia Chenhe and Tao Mujia, probationary student party members; Zhu Meng, a prospective student Party member; and the student Gansu from Youth Propaganda Team of NPU, went to Sanxing Primary School in Weiyang District, Xi’an to give lectures and patriotic education activities. Liu Chunli, the secretary of the party branch of Sanxing Primary School, and all the party and league members, and more than 40 representatives of young pioneers, participated in this activity, which was hosted by Song Jiayin.

Focusing on the theme of patriotic education, cultural confidence, college life, and the NPU spirit in Aerospace, Aviation, and Navigation, Xia Chenhe, Tao Mujia, Zhu Meng, and Gan Su, respectively gave presentations. Firstly, Xia Chenhe took the just-concluded Central Asian Summit as a starting point and delivered a thematic lecture on “The Connection between Cultural Context and National Pulse: How China Gets Cultural Confidence”. He elaborated on the traditional Chinese culture reflected in the Central Asian Summit and emphasized that culture is the soul of a country and nation, and cultural confidence is the spiritual strength to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Subsequently, Zhu Meng gave a lecture entitled “NPU in My Heart”, vividly recounting the stories behind the aircraft designers and showcasing the NPU’s motto “Loyalty, Integrity, Courage and Perseverance” and the spirit of “Strong Preparation, Diligent Effort, Practical Attitude and Creative Innovation”.

Based on the background of NPU and QMUL, Tao Mujia presented the daily learning and life of students of QMES. She used various forms such as videos and animations to present the enriching campus life. For instance, small boats independently designed by students sailing smoothly in lake; “watermelon bungee jumping” achieved through the combination of elastic ropes; the mechanical knowledge hidden in the carousel; and a bridge capable of bearing a load of 10kg constructed by straws and tape. These interesting and technological experiments fully stimulated the curiosity and research enthusiasm of students.

Lastly, Gan Su, from the Youth Propaganda Team of NPU, delivered a lecture on the NPU spirit of “Aerospace, Aviation, and Navigation”. Combining poetic verses, he narrated the heroic feats of the “Striver” heading straight into the depths of the ten-thousand-meter-deep sea, exploring the story behind the universe. He also looked back at the legendary life of Academician Chen Shilu, the founding figure of China’s aerospace industry, and depicted the spirit of thousands of aerospace workers who were “born for aerospace, and dedicated their lives to it.” Through the lecture, he hoped the young people of the new era can carry forward the NPU spirit of “Aerospace, Aviation, and Navigation”, cherish the “greatness of the country”, shoulder the great responsibility, set great aspirations, and accomplish great things.

At the end of the activity, Huang Quanzhang led the members of the Propaganda team to send a Yun-20 aircraft model to the representatives of the Young Pioneers at Sanxing Primary School. They also visited the Red Education Base, the Party History Corridor, and the National Defense Education Base of Sanxing Primary School. As a social practice base for students from NPU, Sanxing Primary School deeply learns and implements Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, and always bears in mind the need to enhance the sense of responsibility and mission of the Young Pioneers.

QMES is dedicated to cultivating the innovation and practical abilities of students. We provide various practical platforms and encourage students to go beyond the campus to develop their skills and capabilities. Engaging in social practice activities further enhances contemporary students’ sense of social responsibility, mission, and commitment. A spark can start a prairie fire. Through patriotic education activities, students from NPU go deep into Sanxing Primary School, planting seeds of love for the Party, the country, the school, and the family in the hearts of pupils of Sanxing Primary School, and encouraging them to study hard, so as to attend prestigious universities and aspire to serve the country in the future.
