Boundless Youth and Endless Strive --- Outstanding Class of NPU during 2017-2018 Academic Year
In 2018, students from QMES, the youngest school of NPU, actively participated in campus cultural life and achieved their academic goals. Class QM170104, Class QM170105 and Class QM170204 stood out for their excellent work.
Let the Dream Set Sail-Class QM0111704
After a year’s efforts, Class QM0111704 gained outstanding achievements and honor in the 2017-2018 academic year.
A large number of student cadres emerged in Class QM0111704 and 7 students were the main cadres in NPU and QMES student unions and clubs. The Class always regarded the construction of academic atmosphere as core tasks. To deal with study difficulties, the class organized Q&A activity before examinations and implemented one-on-one assistance system. In the freshman year, the average credit of the class reached 81.83, ranking second in the whole school. The average grade of the class was higher than the school by nearly 3 points. In the National College English Test (Band 4), the pass rate was 100%, which ranked the first among all twelve classes in Grade 2017.
The class encouraged and organized students to participate in various scientific and technological innovation competitions, and won one national first prize as well as one provincial special prize. Classmates actively participated in College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Projects, among which “Yuanfang Packaging Machine Company” was approved as a national-level project. In Mathematical Modeling Competition of the “NPU Press Cup” held in May 2018, students of Class QM0111704 won two first prizes, three second prizes and one third prize, ranking at the top among all of the colleges. In the 2017-2018 academic year, Class QM0111704 obtained a total of 26 awards by 14 students, including 12 scientific and technological academic awards. There are 5 mathematical model contest awards: 2 provincial special prizes and one national first prize. All these achievements really let their dream set sail.
They Are Always on Their Way-Class QM011705
Class QM011705 consists of 22 ambitious and vigorous youngsters from different provinces.
In May 2018, Zhang Wei,Chairman of Board of Trustees ofNPU, delivered a special ideological and political classes for QM011705 with a theme of “40thAnniversary of Reform and Opening-up”. The students listened carefully and participated actively in the class interaction. They all aspired to be a new generation of young people who had ideals, skills and dedication of the new era. In the same month, Class QM011705 won the third prize in the “May 4thYouth Festival” class show competition organized by the youth league committee of NPU.
In terms of learning, Class QM011705 aimed to solve certain problems in classmates’ learning process by inviting the class tutor and the course lecturer to discuss together. Under the guidance of the teachers and the joint efforts of the entire class, no one failed in the examinations of “Advanced Mathematics”, “Physical Education” and “Linear Algebra”.
In 2018, one student from Class QM011705 won the first prize in the “NPU Press Cup” Mathematical Modeling Competition and three students won the third prizes. After the scholarship selection for 2017-2018 academic year, 8 students received QMES scholarships, NPU scholarships and “Outstanding Student” titles.
During the summer vacation of 2018, classmates Long Yuheng, Yu Xinyu, Yuan Song and Zheng Jiasheng participated in the 2018 QMUL Summer School Project with their excellent performance of the first semester, and deeply experienced the advantages of British innovative education.
The first year of the university was just the beginning of a new journey. In the future, the whole class would continuously unite and make progress together.
Working Together to Create a Brilliant Future-Class QM021704
QM021704 is constituted by 17 students, all of whom are members of the Communist Youth League. They have achieved excellent results in class construction: the title of the “Characteristic League Branch” of NPU in 2018, the second highest average grade in the faculty and so on. It is worth mentioning that the students with the highest score in credit point and comprehensive evaluation are both from this class. Their summer social project has received widespread attention from Chinese and foreign teachers...
Class QM021704 attached great importance to the construction of academic atmosphere. The class committee election took place in every semester. The class committee led various activities that were beneficial to learning, such as group self-study in the evening and lawn reading club, which boosted the students’ learning enthusiasm while promoting the classmates’ friendships. Additionally, the class regularly conducted class meetings and group discussions so that problems encountered in their daily lives can be solved by collaborative effort.
Class QM021704 made a commitment to building a group with strong cohesiveness. In all kinds of selection activities, students cooperated and competed for the honor of the class. With the strong class cohesion, they obtained the honor of “Characteristic League Branch” of NPU. In the past year, the class organized several gatherings, mountain climbing and other activities.
The way to dreams is not easy, but with collective endeavor, the journey of each member is not be alone. The students who love each other will draw a harmonious blueprint together.
