The Award Ceremony of the First English Speech Contest for Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Students in Shaanxi Province Was Successfully Held
On March 3rd, 2023, the award ceremony of the first English Speech Contest for Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Students in Shaanxi Province was held in the International Conference Center of Youyi Campus, NPU. Wen Tong, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Education Department of Shaanxi Provincial Government, Zhan Hao, Vice President of NPU, Wang Keqin, Vice Director of the Academic Affairs Office and Director of Admissions Office, Li Ziwei, Vice Director of the Office of International Cooperation, Fang Yuan, Vice Director of Student Affairs Office, Fan Xiaoli, Dean of QMES, Dai Fuping, Secretary of the Party Committee of QMES, Cheng Yin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of QMES as well as the leaders and guests from Sino-foreign cooperative educational institutions and projects in Shaanxi Province attended the ceremony. The award ceremony was presided over by Dai Fuping.
On behalf of NPU, Vice President Zhan Hao first extended his sincere gratitude to the Education Department of Shaanxi Provincial Government for the guidance and support for the contest. He also expressed his warm congratulations to all the winners. At the same time, he gave a brief introduction towards the educational philosophy and talent training results of QMES. He pointed out that the theme of the speech contest is “ The Voice of Youth, the Power of Global Competence”. He thought the contest fully demonstrated the youthful, confident and enthusiastic spiritual outlook of the contemporary college students. He hoped that students would further study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of CPC. He also hoped that students would tell Chinese stories well, spreading the voice of the youth and the voice of China with the responsibility and mission. He hoped that students could be willing to struggle and work hard to contribute to fully build a modern socialist China.
After Fan Xiaoli, Dean of QMES, read the list of winners, Wen Tong, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Education Department of Shaanxi Provincial Government, presented the award to Xu Weihang, the winner of the special prize of the contest. Subsequently, the winners of the first prize, second prize, third prize and prize of excellence took the stage to receive their awards respectively.
Finally, representatives of the award-winning students, Xu Weihang from QMES of Northwestern Polytechnical University and Suo Jiadi from Sino-foreign Cooperative Project of Electronic Information Science and Technology of Northwest University delivered speeches. They shared their experiences in international learning, English learning and public speaking skill improvement, which was unanimously recognized by the teachers and students on site.
The contest brought together 36 outstanding students from 18 Sino-foreign cooperative educational institutions and projects of Shaanxi Province, including the QMES of Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology University of South Australia An De College, the School of International Education of Xi’an University of Finance and Economics, Chang’an Dublin International College of Transportation at Chang’an University, Ulster College at Shaanxi University of Science & Technology, Sino-foreign Cooperative Project of Electronic Information Science and Technology of Northwest University, College of Natural Resources and Environment of Northwest A&F University, etc. The contest integrated the ideological and political education into daily education and specialized learning, providing a stage for Sino-foreign cooperative education students of Shaanxi province to show their elegant demeanor. It also enlivened cultural and artistic atmosphere of the campus, fully demonstrating the youthful, confident and enthusiastic spiritual outlook of contemporary college students. At the same time, the contest was committed to promoting the learning enthusiasm of students, calling on the young students to further study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of CPC, grasp Xi Jinping Remarks on Education and Youth Work. It also inspired the students to strengthen the theoretical study and professional practice, enhancing their native land emotion and their enthusiasm to forge ahead.
