Class culture construction is on the way--Documentary on the 2022 Culture Construction Competition of Polymer Class 1 of QMES

In response to the call of the university to create an excellent class climate for the undergraduates of the class of 2022, the students of Polymer Class 1 of QMES participated in the culture-building activity with great enthusiasm.

In the beginning, according to the requirements of the university, the students decided to display the class style in the form of videos. The students of Polymer Class 1 independently completed a series of work, such as script writing, field shooting, post-editing, dubbing synthesis, etc.At the same time, 19 members of the class were mobilized to take part in the activities of photography and chorus.

Then, with the joint efforts of the students, the achievements in culture construction of Class 1 received great recognition from the judges and school members, and the class was selected to participate in the final at the school level.

Hearing the news that they had been elected by the school, the students of the class were exulted and their enthusiasm roared. Later, under the guidance of Head Teacher Yang Ye, the class cadres discussed how to make a fabulous school-level report. The discussion saw brilliant ideas. Finally, thanks to Yang Ye's suggestion, the students decided to adopt the innovative form of short plays to show the class style.

However, there was only about a week left before the final. At the first glance, it was just a simple short play, but, it was not until the actual rehearsal and the completion of the play that students found it complicated to deal with an unexpected number of details.

A playlet differs from a video in that the former with a full cast requires everyone to stay sharp until the very last moment of the performance and provides no chance for editing or redoing, which involves enough proficiency of the performers. Most of the students have no experience of acting on the stage. The head teacher Yang Ye always accompanied students, having witnessed students' development during rehearsals, and deeply motivated students to be more firm and confident in the competition.

A total of 19 students were stimulated to participate in the energy-consuming rehearsal, which, on the other side, demonstrated the strong cohesion of the class.

Answering the call of the class committee and the head teacher, every performer was present at every training, and it was almost the first time for the students to come into contact with stage performance. They made trial and error in rehearsals one after another. After finishing the last class of weekdays, the participants assembled to rehearse until the East Teaching Building routinely turned off all the lights at night, and the students had to continue by using their own electric devices to light up. On the night before the game, Yang Ye stayed with the students to practice until midnight, and they delivered great progress with one heart.

After constant rehearsals and corrections, the performance time was successfully reduced from ten minutes to six minutes.

In the end, with full participation and no slips, the class won second place.

By virtue of the activity, the students have improved their class cohesion and mutual trust, who also expressed that the activity made them realize the importance of teamwork and helped accumulate the valuable experience of cooperation, hoping to clinch more success in the future teamwork.
