QMES Held the Eleventh Meeting of Student-Staff Liaison Committee
On November15, 2022, the eleventh meeting of Student-Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) of QMES was held online. Fan Xiaoli, Dean of QMES, Cheng Yin, Vice Dean of QMES and Director of the Student-Staff Liaison Committee, Li Wang, Director of the Student Affairs and Co-Director of the Student-Staff Liaison Committee, as well as committee members of teacher Qi Yue, Huang Quanzhang, Deng Xinru, Faith Nightingale, Alan Allman, student representatives and course representatives of all grades of QMES attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Cheng Yin.
Cheng Yin first introduced the participants of the meeting and extended her welcome towards the coming of them and collectively voted to adopt the minutes of the 10th Student-Staff Liaison Committee meeting. Subsequently, in view of the problems encountered in study and life during the school, student representatives and course representatives actively gave their opinions on the difficulties and confusions about the arrangement of courses and special activities of QMES, online teaching, personal planning, and communication and interaction between teachers and students. They also put forward targeted suggestions.
The teachers gave patient feedback on questions raised by student representatives. Cheng Yin and Li Wang said that QMES would work hard to help and support students, holding a series of Meeting QMUL Teacher activities, strengthening exchanges with domestic JEI (Joint Education Institutions) , relying on the “New Youth Global Competency Talent Training Program” to provide more high-quality platforms and resources for students and lay a solid foundation for students’ diversified development. Teachers such as Faith Nightingale and Alan Allman had a lively discussion with student representatives on how to enhance the interaction between teachers and students in online teaching. Faith Nightingale said that she will continue to optimize the Professional Practice System’s reward and punishment system based on student feedback to increase student participation in class.
The freshman representatives who have participated in the leadership training previously discussed related issues with teachers, expressing their beautiful vision for the four-year study life of the university.
Finally, Cheng Yin gave a summary on the meeting. She expressed her gratitude towards teachers and students for their suggestions and comments, and preliminarily determined the time of the next meeting. The meeting of Student-Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) of QMES built a harmonious and smooth communication platform for teachers and students of QMES, enhanced the effective communication between teachers and students in post-epidemic period, and created a broader development space for QMES to cultivate international innovative compound top-notch talents.
