QMES Held the British school syudy Experience Sharing Session

QMES held an online experience sharing session on applying for master and doctor degrees from top Universities in the UK on the evening of May 16, 2022. Fan Juncheng, a 2017 student majoring in polymer Materials and Engineering, were invited to deliver the speech. In the activity, Fan Juncheng shared the reasons why he chose to go abroad, his experience of applying to Cambridge University, and his life and study experience in the UK.

Fan Juncheng is currently studying for his MPhil in Micro and Nanotechmnology Enterpirse at the University of Cambridge, and has received offers of two programs in PhD in Chemistry with Machine Learning (SynTech CDT) and CDT in Connected Electronic and Photonic Systems. “It was hard to study alone in a foreign country for a whole year, but I also learned a lot,” he said.

Fan Juncheng introduced how to take advantage of the sino-foreign cooperative education system during the application process. And he also took Oxford and Cambridge as examples to share advice on preparing the application essay combined with rank and style of different university. He reminded students to take the initiative to collect information, pay attention to important deadlines in the application process, clarify the motivation of the application, illustrate their motivation, and write an excellent personal statement with strong logic.

In addition, Fan Juncheng clarified some common misconceptions about the application for study in the UK, and showed the colorful study life in Cambridge University with photos and videos. Finally, he encouraged students to enhance their competitiveness by publishing research results, obtaining relevant professional certificates, and actively participating in internship and innovation and entrepreneurship activities.

This sharing session enables students to have a more in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the study and life situation and application experience of top universities in the UK, improves students’ enthusiasm to participate in overseas study, provides more options for future development, and helps students to further clarify their goals and make good study and life planning.
