British Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) 2021 Youth Speech Competition Was Successfully Held
On April 8, 2021, the Chinese trail of the Youth Speech Competition launched by the British Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) was successfully ended. Fan Juncheng from QMES won the first place with a wonderful performance. He will participate IOM3 Global Youth Speech Competition on behalf of China. Fan Juncheng’s speech focused on the discovery of polydopamine which not only induces regeneration of bone tissue, but also responds to external stimuli, and can be applied as an intelligent antibacterial drug carrier coated on the surface of implants, thereby developing a new generation of antibacterial bone implants that intelligently respond to external stimuli. Li Yiran won the second place in the trial by her detailed presentation style, and Huang Botao won the third place by his abundant speech content.
Dr. Andrew Spowage and Ms. Faith Nightingale, as judges of the trial, both expressed their full recognition of the three winners’ wonderful performance. Their informative, interesting, and eloquent speeches and calm performance in the question and answer sessions, all showed their solid professional level and accumulation in the learning process, which not only sets role models for QMES students, but also indicates their promising future.
