The Fifth NPU-QMUL Seminar on Advanced Materials and Structures & Online PhD Summer Workshops was successfully held
From June 7 to 11, 2021, with the support of the International Cooperation Office of NPU, the online PhD summer workshops of NPU-QMUL Joint Research Institute for Advanced Materials and Structures (JRI) was successfully held by QMES, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and School of Life Sciences.
Since 2017, such summer workshops had been organized for four times, while as the continuous impact of Covid-19 pandemic, the workshops of this year had to be held online again. This seminar covered a wide range of professional fields, such as High Entropy Ceramic Materials, Structural Engineering Optimization, Materials of Energy Conversion and Storage, Novel Nano-Biomaterials, Polymeric Smart Materials, and Bio-engineering, and included 6 parallel forums with 73 academic presentations nearly by 30 professors and 40 PhD students. More than 200 teachers and students from NPU and QMES were attracted to attend online.
During the online workshops, teachers and students from NPU and UMUL discussed freely and actively, sharing their personal research results and broadening their research ideas. On the one hand, the workshops strengthened communication and cooperation among the faculty members of the two universities and further enhanced the internationalization ability of NPU’s PhD students; on the other hands, it also promoted the development of JRI, and provided a foundation to deepen and broaden research cooperation between the two universities.
