Building Anti-Fraud Barriers, Creating “Fraud-Free Campus”: 2023 “Healthy Consumption Concept · Youth Without Burden” Financial Knowledge Outreach Event on Campus Enters NPU
On October 17th, the 2023 “Healthy Consumption Concept · Youth Without Burden” Financial Knowledge Outreach Event on Campus was successfully held at the Teaching Building East A, Room 210 of the Chang’an campus of NPU. The event was jointly organized by China Youth Daily, the China Center for Financial Research (CCFR) at Tsinghua University, the China Institute of Communications Expert Committee on FinTech and Digital Economy Development, and XWBank. It was co-hosted by the Youth League Committee of NPU and the Youth League Committee of QMES.
The lecture featured guest speakers Wang Dong, a police officer from the High-tech Sub-Bureau of Xi’an Public Security Bureau, and Li Hui, an anti-fraud technology expert from XWBank. This event was attended by representatives from China Youth Daily, Zhang Yongming, Vice Captain of the Household Registration Brigade at the High-Tech Sub-Bureau of Xi’an Public Security Bureau, representatives from XWBank, Cheng Yin, Vice Secretary of QMES Party Committee and Vice Dean of QMES, Huang Quanzhang, Secretary of QMES Youth League Committee, and Muzayiti Abula, representative of the Student Affairs Management Centre of the Student Affairs Office.
On behalf of our college, Cheng Yin warmly welcomed the organizers, guests, and students attending the event. She pointed out that compared with members of society, college students had a weaker awareness of fraud prevention, making them one of the primary victim groups of telecom and online fraud, which compromised the financial security of college students, disrupted their academic and social lives, and in some cases, even caused extremely negative social impacts. Therefore, students had to strengthen their risk awareness. Cheng expressed the hope that through this financial knowledge outreach event, students can master the skills of recognising and preventing financial fraud, enhance self-protection awareness, and refuse to become a victim of financial fraud.
Wang Dong lectured on the topic of “Anti-Fraud Campaign Enters NPU: Rather Than Admiring Fish at the Edge of the Abyss, It’s Better to Retreat and Set Up a Net”, and provided a thorough analysis of various forms of telecom and online fraud, such as online shopping rebate scams, campus loans, and the sale or rental of bank cards, by using real-life case studies. He introduced the “Three No’s and One More” approach to help students prevent telecom and online fraud, effectively improving the attendees’ fraud prevention awareness and their ability to detect and counter fraudulent activities.
Li Hui started from the perspective of technical confrontation, analyzing the black industry chain behind the appearance of fraud and how to achieve financial anti-fraud through technical means. He advised the students not to be deceived by the appearance of fraud, reminded everyone to consume rationally, and increased their awareness of financial risks.
Following the conclusion of the lecture, students actively engaged in a question-and-answer session on financial fraud prevention, thereby solidifying their understanding of the lecture. The interactive session successfully concluded the financial knowledge outreach event on campus.
The success of the event allowed students to learn about financial anti-fraud knowledge, contributing to the cultivation of a scientific, rational, and healthy consumption mindset. Additionally, it enhanced their awareness of financial risk prevention and the ability to identify on-campus financial scams.
