Enrico Benassi give an academic presentationinQMES
On the afternoon of March 15th, Dr. Enrico Benassi, an Italian theoretical physical chemist and chemical physicist, came toQMESto present a report on "AccuratePrediction ofThermalExpansionCo-efficient ofMetals" to students in the academic lecture hall. The report was presided over byPro.FanXiaoli, who gave a brief introduction to the reporter. Dr. Enrico Benassi was mainly engaged in the theoretical modeling of the properties and dynamics of excited states, the theoretical and computational research of the characteristics of new molecular systems, as well as the computational simulation and software development of complex systems such as biology, pharmacy, medicine and technology and scientific computing.
Next, Enrico Benassi beganhislecture, he told the students about a well knownphenomenon in life--the phenomenon of thermal expansion. A simple, atom-level analytical model for calculating the thermal expansion coefficient of metal temperature correlation is established by combining the microscopic physics with the macroscopic physics through statistical physics.Dr Enrico Benass describedin detail how the model was built and how it was validated.Compared with the experimental data, it was proved that this model can evaluate the thermal expansion coefficient of materials rapidly and effectively.
During theQ&Asession, Dr. Benass interacted with students and patiently answered questions. This academic report has broadened students' knowledge and benefited them a lot.
