Sharing Opportunity and Development—QMES attended Cooperation and Development Forum for Xi’an Aviation Industry

On 12thOct, the “Cooperation and Development Forum for Xi’an Aviation Industry” sponsored by the Xi'an Municipal Committee of the CPC, the Xi'an Municipal People's Government and the Shaanxi Province National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Office and undertook by Xi'an Investment Cooperation Committee and Xi'an Yanliang National Aviation High-tech Industrial Base Management Committee was successfully held in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.

Shangguan Jiqing, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Xi'an Municipal Committee and Mayor, Wang Lin, Secretary of the Standing Committee of the Xi'an Municipal Committee, Secretary of the Economic Development Zone Party and Labor Committee of the Aviation Base, and Qiang Xiaoan, Vice Mayor, were invited to attend this forum. Professor Andrew Bushby, Executive Vice Dean of Queen Mary University of London Engineering School, Northwesten Polytechnical University (hereafter referred to as QMES), Professor Andrew Spowage, the teacher of Queen Mary University of London, together with more than 400 guests from more than 200 institutes of civil aviation enterprises, associations, colleges, financial institutions and government departments, joined this event together. Airbus, the world's largest aircraft manufacturer, Safran Group, the world's largest Civil Aeroengine manufacturer, Parker Hannifin Aerospace, the world's leading enterprise in the field of motion and control, as well as the Heads of aviation enterprises and institutions such as the First Flying Court of Aviation Industry, Shaanxi Flying Company, Xifei Civil Aircraft of Aviation Industry, and Aviation Industry Intensity Institute, were invited to attend the forum as well.

The forum, chaired by Wang Lin, was subjected as "New Age, New Economy, New Xi'an". Focusing on the new trend of the development of the aviation industry in Xi'an under the new circumstance, the attendees shared in depth the frontier information and sought opportunities for investment and cooperation.

Prof. Andrew Bushby keynoted on the hot topic of "industry, education and research" in aviation industry as a representative of colleges and universities. Firstly, he made a general introduction to QMES, the first Joint Education Programme in the Northwestern region, as well as the NPU-QMUL JRI-AMAS and the ICTL.

Subsequently, combined with the theme of this forum, Andrew Bushby discussed the importance of material science in the field of aviation, aerospace and navigation from the professional field, and extended to the guiding significance of aviation industry to university education."Understanding industrial case studies, industrial applications of materials, engineering challenges (technology and business) is an important part of our teaching content, so we have to keep in close touch with industry partners," he said, “QMES is committed to training our graduates to become outstanding scholars and industry leaders needed by research institutions and production and research enterprises.”

Finally, Andrew Bushby looked forward to the further cooperation and development between QMES and various institutes in the field, such as the sharing of professional knowledge resources, the establishment of joint master's and doctoral training research projects, and the construction of cooperative research centers.

The forum brought together many experts and scholars in the field of aviation and built a high-end dialogue platform for aviation open cooperation. Through sharing and discussing, the guests' forward-looking vision, innovative thinking and practical suggestions have drawn a grand blueprint for the transformation and upgrading of Xi'an aviation industry, and provided wisdom and vitality for promoting the cooperation and exchange of Xi'an aviation industry and industrial progress.

QMES will focus on integrating the superior resources of British materials science, building a characteristic innovation driving system for the local economy, striving to advance to the high level of the industrial chain, making great effort to build a "production, life, ecology" aviation new city, and devoting itself to the important support of the national industrial career.
