On the afternoon of November 12, 2024, QMES convened its 18th Academic Committee Meeting in a hybrid format, combining online and offline participation. Committee members present included Wang Yongxin, Luo Jiao, Gao Pengfei, Shi Xutao, Rachel Appleton, Maria Romero-Gonzalez, Colin Crick, Faith Nightingale, and Deng Xinru. Also in attendance were Yang Yufei and Liu Kejia from the QMES Education and Teaching Centre, Chelsea Zhang-Anegbeh, Qi Yue, Li Yangyang, and Nabil Cassim from the QMUL Administrative Office. The meeting was chaired by the rotating chair, Rachel Appleton.
The meeting began with the confirmation of the Academic Committee membership list. Following this, Faith Nightingale reported on establishing the Academic Status and Student Record Change Working Group. Wang Yongxin then provided detailed updates on several matters, including 2021-2023 Cohorts Academic Performance and Academic Early Warning, the situation of the 2020 graduates, the progress of 2021 cohort Final Year project, Cognition Internship, production internships, as well as revision of the Education Plan for 2024 undergraduates and the course syllabus. He also reported on the progress of dual master degree students and the establishment of the Academic Misconduct Committee. These topics were discussed by the attendees. Regarding students who had met the criteria for academic early warning or withdrawal, Faith Nightingale noted that these cases would be reviewed and final decisions would be made within the working group. Rachel Appleton expressed her approval of the establishment of both the Academic Status and Student Record Change Working Group and the Academic Misconduct Committee. The meeting concluded with the attendees agreeing on the date for the next Academic Committee meeting.
