On 24th September, all 2024 freshmen from QMES visited the Museum of NPU History, led by Ge Qu, the counsellor of the 2024 class.

Guided by a museum docent, the students entered the Museum of NPU History, as if stepping into a time tunnel, reflecting on over 80 years of NPU’s remarkable journey. From its challenging beginnings during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, through its rapid development after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, to the innovative breakthroughs in the era of reform and opening-up, NPU has always been closely intertwined with the nation's destiny. Throughout its history, the university has upheld the motto of “Dedication, Honesty, Courage, and Resolve” and fostered a school ethos of “Solid Foundations, Pragmatic Work, Simple Style, and Innovative Spirit”. Over the decades, NPU has cultivated many industry leaders and pillars of the nation.

As the students gazed upon the precious historical photographs and artefacts, each steeped in stories, they witnessed the dedication of our predecessors who, in the nation’s time of greatest need, worked tirelessly in challenging conditions to advance the country’s cause. Their wisdom and hard work laid a solid foundation for NPU’s development. The vivid accounts of these remarkable individuals deeply impressed the students, highlighting how a strong sense of patriotism has inspired generations of NPU members to forge ahead and excel in their respective fields.

The visit to the Museum of NPU History was not merely a simple reflection on the past, but also a profound spiritual experience and an elevation of the students’ sense of purpose. It offered each freshman a deep understanding of NPU’s development and core spirit, instilling in them a strong commitment to the Party, the country, and the university. The students expressed their determination to inherit and carry forward the spirit of NPU, inspired by the school motto “Dedication, Honesty, Courage, and Resolve” and the ethos of “Solid Foundations, Pragmatic Work, Simple Style, and Innovative Spirit”. They pledged to embody these values and collectively contribute to writing a new chapter in the “NPU Phenomenon”.
